Slobodan Jeremić Jeremija was born in Šabac where he spent his childhood and went to school. After several years spent in Belgrade, in early 1970s, he decided to leave the city and move to the village of Pećinci. Jeremija is a painter by profession since 1968, he had 160 independent and around 250 group exhibitions in former Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan, USA. He was given 30 awards, some of them being the following:
Several documentaries, films, TV and radio shows
have been filmed about Jeremija. In 1988, monograph named „Jeremija between Bread and Heaven“ was published. In 1989, collection of poems „Salt and Bread of Jeremija“ was published. It includes poems of distinguished Serbian poets. In 1995, Serbian Museum of Bread – Jeremija was founded. Jeremija’s paintings are present in private and
museum collections all around the world. |
